The History Timeline of Invicta Watch Group
The beauty of each Invicta timepiece is just as beautiful and rich as the history of the Invicta Watch Group. Theirs is a story of passion, persistence, and success. The Invicta watches we know of today was only a part of a dream. It started in 1837 across the border of France and Switzerland. During that time, superior quality watches were made for the rich and wealthy.
Track back to the town of Le Chaux- De Fonds in Switzerland, a man named Raphael Picard was hoping to impress his name in the thriving watch industry. He was not excited knowing for a fact that only the affluent people could afford high-quality timepieces. For him, it was time to create watches that is not exclusive or affordable to the rich. This is when he founded the Invicta Watch Company.
With his desire, Picard’s company experienced an overwhelming success in its sales. The watches were patronized not only by the common man, but also by many watch enthusiasts and collectors. Eventually, Invicta Watch Company has contracted to supply Swiss military watches in the Second World War, many of which were kept and displayed in museums in Switzerland. The company reached its peak in the 1960s.
The Picard family owned and operated the Invicta Watch group until the 1970s. During the said period, Invicta faced one of its biggest challenges. It was in the 1970s that the quartz movement revolution sparked what could place the high-end watch industry in its all-time low. Quartz movement made it possible to produce cheap watches. By 1980s, Invicta was at the point of shutting down many of its factories.
But as they always say, everything shall come to pass. In 1991, an investment company based in the United States purchased the Invicta Watch Company. The latter moved to its new home in Hollywood, Florida for its operation. At that time, Invicta realigned its company and their products. Invicta soon recovered and in 2000s, Invicta started developing new calibers as it explored new complications and techniques including the iconic skeletonized movement. In 2000, Invicta ventured into the creation of the unisex Lupah Swiss Chronograph characterized by its oversized dials, colorful straps, and other distinct features.
The year 2005 has been remarkable for Invicta as the only remaining 1959 Russian Naval Fleet watch was discovered. From here, Invicta carefully replicated the timepiece. In the recent years, Invicta continued to innovate and come up with fresh and functional watches. Today, Invicta still offers high-quality luxury watches at a relatively affordable price. Invicta has likewise launched and involved itself, through contributions, to many charitable causes. As a matter of fact, as early as 2006, Invicta created the Invicta Care Foundation, which supports and empowers the less fortunate.
